St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy at Bethlehem Campus Expands Above & Beyond Typical Retail Store

St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy, located in St. Luke’s University Hospital-Bethlehem, has extended its hours and added 1,000 square feet of new space to enable offering a range of new products and services not typically available at the average retail pharmacy.

The new extended hours at St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy, 801 Ostrum Street, Suite 101A, Bethlehem, PA 18015 are Monday-Friday: 7 am to 7 pm, Saturday: 9 am to 3 pm, and Sunday: 9 am to 1 pm.

Bedside Medication Express Delivery Service (MEDS)

“We are very excited about our discharge medication delivery service at our St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy Bethlehem location,” says Joseph G. Borgioni, R.Ph., MBA, Administrator of St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy Services. “Medication Express Delivery Service (MEDS) offers patients the opportunity to receive, sign, and pay for their medications at their bedside before leaving the hospital. The objectives of the MEDS program are to help improve patient satisfaction with the hospital discharge process, increase medication adherence, and decrease medication related re-hospitalizations. Patients may request prescription delivery service by speaking with their nurse or case manager or by contacting the Pharmacy directly by dialing MEDS (6337) from their room phone.

New Products

In an effort to simplify patient access (and as a result of valuable input from key St. Luke’s departments), St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy now carries an expanded line of specialty items. Patients can purchase occupational therapy products, such as walkers and canes, dishes and utensils, splints, and many other items to assist with activities of daily living.

St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy staff also offers an expanded selection of physical therapy items, including exercise bands, Kinesio and Leuko tape, neck and lower back ice packs, and more.

“Whether it’s for occupational therapy, physical therapy, or post bariatric surgery patients,” adds Joe Borgioni, “we want everyone to view HomeStar Pharmacy as a convenient one-stop shop where you’ll find an array of products and services not usually offered by a typical retail pharmacy. We will continue to consult with hospital departments in an effort to improve patient and employee access to products they may need.”

Also available at St. Luke’s HomeStar Pharmacy in Bethlehem is a line of increasingly popular St. Luke’s branded merchandise, including jackets, water bottles, ice packs, phone chargers, and tote bags. St. Luke’s employees receive a 10% discount on all branded items.
