St. Luke’s Warren Campus Receives Highest Possible Quality Score from Medicare & Medicaid

Three St. Luke’s Hospitals Are Only Regional Facilities Given This Recognition

St. Luke’s Warren Campus, along with St. Luke’s Anderson Campus and St. Luke’s Miners Campus, has received the highest possible quality rating from the annual quality and safety hospital review conducted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid (CMS.) In Pennsylvania and New Jersey, only 15 hospitals received such an honor, and the St. Luke’s Hospital Anderson, Miners and Warren campuses were the only hospitals in the region to receive the highest rating.

The results were based on 57 quality measures collected from 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals. The quality measures spanned over categories including mortality, safety of care, readmission, infection, complication rates, patient experience, effectiveness and timeliness of care and efficient use of medical imaging.

“Achieving a 5-star rating supports St. Luke’s Hospital – Warren Campus’ commitment to providing high quality, safe and timely care to our patients – the principles at the heart of St. Luke’s University Health Network’s mission,” says Scott R. Wolfe, president, St. Luke’s Hospital – Warren Campus. “The CMS distinction confirms the dedication and hard work of our medical and hospital staff members and the support and influence of our Network. Without their support, we could not have achieved this level of performance nor the commitment to continuing this standard of care for our patients and their families in the future.”

CMS designed the rating system to direct consumers to the hospitals that provide the best health care and to encourage health systems to improve the quality of the care provided. Only 9 percent of hospitals in the country were given the 5-star achievement, with the majority of hospitals receiving 3-stars.

“We are extremely proud of our 5-star rating and the fact that St. Luke’s University Health Network hospitals are top performers nationally and in our region,” says Donna Sabol, chief quality officer. “This is testament to the high quality care provided to our patients each and every day within our Network.”
