Area’s Only Pediatric Nephrologist, Dr. Tecile Andolino, Now Seeing Patients at St. Luke’s West End Medical Center
Pediatric nephrologists diagnose, treat, and manage many disorders affecting the kidney and urinary tract, including kidney failure, high blood pressure, inherited kidney diseases, kidney stones, urinary tract infections, and abnormalities in the urine such as blood and protein. They also know how to evaluate and treat problems with growth and development that are specifically related to chronic kidney disease.
St. Luke’s continues to expand the specialized pediatric services it offers to patients at the St. Luke’s West End Medical Center in Allentown. The area’s only pediatric nephrologist, Tecile Andolino, MD, is now regularly seeing patients at the center, bringing her skills to an accessible, convenient location.
“I tell families that the kidney is the human body’s hidden gem,” says Dr. Andolino. “It’s an amazing organ that’s hard to explain, it performs all these essential functions, yet it gets no credit. But kidney-related health issues go unnoticed many times because there are no obvious symptoms. A pediatric nephrologist is trained to recognize the subtleties when everything appears normal on the outside. We also can explain complex medical conditions in ways that people understand.”
“St. Luke’s can offer another valuable resource for parents, children, and referring physicians right here in the West End, which may be more convenient for families rather than having to travel over an hour way for the same comprehensive care. I’m a mom, too, and I know how hard it is to get to a doctor’s appointment with your kids.”
Dr. Andolino provides medical and lifestyle treatments that manage pediatric kidney disease. She offers comprehensive consultations and examinations for kidney diseases, electrolyte disorders, and congenital kidney issues. Prenatal consultations are available for pregnant women.
She adds: “Parents and primary care physicians should know that access to treatment here is easy. We have experience, two convenient locations, and services such as labs, x-rays, and diagnostic tests, all in one place. It makes collaboration with other members of the child’s healthcare team easy, too.”
In addition to her new Allentown location, Dr. Andolino continues to see patients at St. Luke’s Nephrology Associates at 701 Ostrum Street, Bethlehem.
New patients are welcome through physician referral. To make an appointment at either location, please call (610) 865-5888.
