Ashland Family Practice Welcomes Nurse Practitioner Bettina Heinsohn

Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) Bettina Heinsohn recently joined the clinical team at St. Luke’s Ashland Family Practice where she assesses, diagnoses and treats a variety of common acute and chronic diseases. Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a family nurse practitioner, she sees adult patients and children, ages 5 and up.

Bettina grew up outside of Hamburg, so it was fitting that after she completed her final rotation with Ashland Family Practice, she decided to stay. She knew that this very special practice was where she wanted to begin her career. “Our staff and providers are an excellent team of professionals who genuinely care for our patients,” Bettina explains. “We are a small office and our location is quite remote, but this gives us the opportunity to get to know our patients more personally.”

Part of providing personalized care is to give patients the time and opportunity to ask questions regarding their health. “Once I sit down with patients and get to know them, I can partner with them to meet their personal health care goals,” says Bettina.

Another integral part of providing optimal health care is to utilize a multidisciplinary approach. “Health care encompasses a variety of factors that affect each patient differently. I aim to provide patients with the holistic care that is necessary to optimize their goals,” she says.

Bettina completed her undergraduate degree from Lebanon Valley College, followed by a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Edinboro University, and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Simmons College.

Bettina acknowledges that sometimes searching online is a patient’s first step in answering a health care question, but she warns them not to allow the internet to replace a primary care provider. “Don’t rely on web-based resources to guide health care decisions,” Bettina cautions. “The Internet is rampant with oversimplified, inaccurate and biased information. Many people underestimate the value of discussing their health care questions and concerns with a provider who is familiar with their personal medical history.”

In her spare time, Bettina likes to spend time outdoors; she loves animals, hiking and photography, and spending time with her husband, two dogs and three cats.

Bettina is welcoming new patients with early morning appointments available! Schedule online today.
