Lino Miele, MD, Joins Body Evolution

MieleBethlehem, PA (6/8/2016)  – Lehigh Valley native Lino Miele, MD, has joined Dr. Michael Morrissey Jr. and Body Evolution – The Center for Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Miele has expertise in the reconstructive management of cancer and trauma related deformities as well as aesthetic surgery.

After completing his general surgery residency training at The Lankenau Medical Center, Dr. Miele expanded his medical training in plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which is recognized as one of the top three plastic surgery training programs in the United States. There he gained extensive experience with microsurgery procedures for breast reconstruction using the patient’s own tissue, such as the free DIEP and muscle sparing TRAM flaps.

Dr. Miele also has worked in a premier post-bariatric plastic surgery center under the tutelage of a leader in the field of fat grafting, and he is highly experienced with recontouring techniques for bariatric patients.

“Armed with broad experience in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, my goal is to restore and improve patients’ overall quality of life,” Dr. Miele said. “I am thrilled to be joining the St. Luke’s team and passionate about working within an integrated, cost-effective and efficient healthcare model that delivers quality patient care.”

Dr. Miele’s research interests include medical device design and development. He completed a National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsored postdoctoral research fellowship at Harvard Medical School where he investigated microcirculatory blood flow, angiogenesis and tissue regeneration.

Outside of work, Dr. Miele said he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three daughters, playing golf and skiing. He and his family also share a love for local sports and the visual and performing arts.
