St. Luke’s Dr. Tricia Kelly a Featured Panelist at Lehigh Valley Yoga Fest
Dr. Kelly will be part of the festival’s first-ever panel discussion – about the intersection of yoga and medicine – featuring a handful of diverse experts.
“As a breast surgeon, I’m restoring women physically. But there are so many other components that need to be addressed and understood,” she said. “I strongly believe in an integrated therapy approach.”
Dr. Kelly espouses a holistic approach to care. An advocate of strengthening the mind-body connection to create space for healing, she became interested in yoga after experiencing a serious asthma attack that diminished her ability to do other activities. She found yoga was essential for her continued well-being.
Patients’ wellness relies on more than just medical care, Dr. Kelly said. Patients must take care of their emotional well-being too – and yoga can be the key to getting back on track.
“Patients deserve quality, compassionate care, and I strive to treat the whole person, not just the underlying cancer or disorder,” she said.
Dr. Kelly has facilitated yoga workshops for women throughout the country. She also launched Yoga for Hope, which benefits the Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.
Lehigh Valley Yoga Festival is taking place July 14th at Moravian College’s Center for Health Sciences. The festival is a fundraiser for the Pratyush Sinha foundation, and all proceeds will help local communities in achieving health and harmony through yoga and mindfulness programs.
Pre-sale tickets will be available up to July 13th. Tickets will also be available at the door. For more information, visit: http://lehighvalleyyogafestival.com/.
