St. Luke’s Physician Assistant Joins Elite Group
Julie Gutzweiler, MS, PA-C, Director and physician assistant at St. Luke’s University Health Network, has earned the specialty credential of Certificate of Added Qualifications from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. Julie is one of only 108 certified physician assistants nationwide to earn the certificate and one of just 13 certified physician assistants in Pennsylvania.
A physician assistant for 24 years, Julie continuously strives to be more well rounded. “The certification is an acknowledgement of the faster turnaround time, depth of knowledge, and quality of care our patients can expect in the ER,” Julie says, “and for our ER physicians, it’s an affirmation of a valuable resource available to them.” Julie also felt that the certification would enhance the Emergency Medicine Fellowship program.
Gutzweiler was awarded the certificate in emergency medicine after meeting licensure, education, and experience requirements, and then passing an online exam in the specialty. “It was 120 questions in 120 minutes,” Julie says, “very much like the challenging pace in an ER.” The special certification for Physician Assistants will last for 10 years. Congratulations, Julie!
